How to Become a Coach

1. Go to https://www.usawmembership.com  and create an account.   When you do this, make sure your club affiliation is the Batavia Wrestling Club.  

2.   Take the steps to purchase your “wrestling leader” coaches’ card.   The system will stop you and redirect you to the background check site.

3. Complete the background check- it usually takes about 2 days to get it through.

4. Then try again to purchase your card and it’ll stop you again.  This time do the “safe sport” video which is about 1.5hours.   When you’ve completed this, send an email to info@bataviawrestlingclub.com and the club will purchase your card.

5. Log into the USA Wrestling site

6. Navigate to the "manage" tab at the top right of this page. Select "Coaches Certifications". 

7. Click on Copper Certification and at the bottom of the page click on the arrow to select your name and purchase the course.

8. Follow the directions to complete the course. 

9. Once your Copper Certified, you never have to retake the copper certification.   However, the safe sport video refresher will need to be completed every year (no fee) and the background check every two years.
